Pope has been our go-to vet for many years now. They have amazing, kind staff and they're so genuine. My dog that I took there today (out of the 6 we have taken there) wasn't doing well at all and we weren't sure why or if we had any options. We got there early, about 35 minutes early. I left my mom in the car with our dog and went in and explained that he really needed to be seen and we were early. One of the employees opened a room right up for us to bring him into. We laid him down and were immediately helped. Sadly, our poor dog didn't make it. We turned around for a second and he had a bloody nose and had stopped breathing. The vet tech then called immediately for a veterinarian and they took him to the back to an ultrasound machine or something along the lines of that to look for a heartbeat. He was gone, and we were crushed. The Vet and her assistant then gave my mother and I hugs and didn't make us pay a dime. I love Pope and plan on always taking my dogs there.
I'm new to the area so I asked around around about vets offices and this place was highly recommended by many people. At first, I was very pleased. Finding a vet that even agrees to see rabbits can be super difficult and I had a really great initial visit. I was apprehensive about getting my bunny neutered because they are very sensitive to anesthesia, surgery, stress and pretty much anything. After speaking with the vet at Pope I felt much more confident and scheduled the surgery. The first problem was being contacted about a week before the surgery to reschedule because they didn't have the necessary supplies and wouldn't be able to get them in time. I had already taken leave at work and scheduled a trip out of town (planning on taking the rabbit with me) for the new surgery date so I was a little annoyed. I was told he could travel two days after the surgery so I adjusted my trip. I was slightly annoyed but I figured it wasn't worth making a big stink about. The surgery went well but I was then informed he was supposed to come in a week later for a complementary check-up. When the reschedule happened, I told them we would be out of town and I was slightly annoyed no one told me about the recommended follow up appointment at that time. That night, he frantically started licking and biteing towards his back end. I thought he was going after his stitches. I then see his back leg is bandaged and he's pulling on a tube coming out of the bandages. I called the office but they were closed. I couldn't leave a voicemail because their machine cuts off after about 5 seconds. There was a number on the recording so I called it thinking I was going to reach a staff member. Turns out I'm calling an emergency room over in Collinsville. They explain that what I'm probably seeing is an IV catheter mistakenly left in. It was clearly upsetting him so I decided to make the hour and half, midnight trip to Collinsville. The staff there was super helpful and took it out for free. They had to wrap his leg afterwards because it was bleeding pretty badly from him trying to rip it out. I took my poor, sad little bunny home and at this point I'm pretty upset. I called the office in the morning to express my concerns. The receptionist was kind but was more concerned with placing blame on an individual. I tried to explain that I wasn't mad that a mistake was made, that's just a part of life. I was mad that there wasn't a system in place to catch these mistakes because that's a huge mistake. I was supposed to receive a call back. It's been two full business days later and I'm still waiting on that call back. I've lost a lot of faith in this office and I am overall really disappointed in the lack of organization and consistency.
They were the best! I was distraught and worried, my puppy was in pain and they took care of both of us!
Took Lucy our newly adopted 3yrs old African Grey in for her first vet visit. It was also my first time visiting. Could not have been more pleased with Dr Jones and the staff. She is extremely knowledgeable. The price was right about where I was expecting. Wellness check up and nails and was under $70 Highly recommended
My grandma dog went in for a check up the next day he passed away because of a tumor on his heart. My grandma had no knowledge of this and asked the doctor what the problem was while she was there for the check up. Then just today my boyfriend took their dog to see of he had worms week ago and the doctor confirmed he was fine. Today found worms in his stools. Not impressed that this keeps happening to animals. I'm sure they are well educated just need to double check their work so this does not keep happening
