Maevas's is a funky, cozy coffee house located inside a renovated school building. There are many places to sit, work, hang out, and relax. This building has a definite bohemian, artist colony feel to it, with local, entrepreneurial businesses, ranging from massage to gallery, throughout the premises. The cheesecake and the pumpkin bread were homemade, super tasty, and the lattes were excellent, created carefully, each with a special leaf design. This is a fun place to hang out, a little off the beaten track, with lots of character.

This place is a great hidden gem in Alton. It is off the beaten path for me but I wanted a Flat White that didn't involve driving 20 or 30 miles.

The prices are fair and actually on the lower side of what you expect to pay for coffee. The quality of the coffee is excellent and my flat white has been perfect on multiple occasions which is rare from any coffee house. A wide variety of pastries and baked goods are available and change daily. Quiche, muffins, cakes, cookies and more all at reasonable prices and extremely high quality.

It's unique and personable. The coffee selection's are many.

I have friends I'll meet for games of chess or just to chat.

The inside is decorated warm and inviting. What is obviously an old classroom or school office has been transformed into a cozy coffee house with a lot of local flavor.

They are ever improving the building and growing tenants of growing small businesses. GO AND SEE!

Definately worth the visit!

My husband and I have somewhat recently become obsessed with coffee and our lattes were absolute perfection! A giant leap above anything you can get at Starbucks - paired with the coolest decor & most comfortable atmosphere. Worth it to travel out of your way to stop by for sure!

Absolutely love this coffee shop. The ambiance and design are both perfect. Great neighborhood cafe with an artistic feel. Owners and staff are unfailingly positive and friendly. An Alton favorite.

The coffee shop is housed in an old school. The location is not easy to spot from the street, so be sure to slow down and pay attention or you will pass it. The parking lot is gravel so I suggest parking on the street if you have a fresh car wash.
